Em Junho de 1984, Wham tiveram seu primeiro número 1 com “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go”. Escrito e produzido por George Michael. A música nasceu de uma nota na qual Andrew Ridgeley, a outra metade do Wham !, foi até seus pais para ler “Acorde-me antes de ir”. O erro de digitação na nota inspirou a dupla a dublar o “go” na música.
